ways to make fresh again in five minutes

Next to the phrase "you gained weight," the comment "you look tired" is a line you don't want to hear. But what's a girl to do when you're running on four hours sleep, under the weather, or stressed out?  At least one of these tricks can help perk you up and leave you looking alert, awake, and enthusiastic!
1. Make concealer your best friend. Dark circles around the eyes give an "up all night," tired look. If you're lacking sleep, fake it with concealer. Choose a color that matches your foundation shade (or get something one grade lighter; you can mix the two hues together as an alternative).
What to do: Dot the inner third of your lower eye area with concealer, then use your ring finger or a concealer brush to gently pat (don't pull or tug!) the product on to your skin. Finish off with a very light dusting of loose powder. Pro Tip: Cream or liquid formulas are your best bet because they're ultra blendable, which is very important when camouflaging tired-looking under eye gray rings.

2. Ice for your eyes. Puffy eyes deliver the message "I didn't sleep enough, or I cried all evening." In the classic movie Mommy Dearest, there's a scene where actress Faye Dunaway (who portrays Hollywood icon Joan Crawford) submerges her face in a basin of ice water—all part of her morning beauty routine to keep her looking young and beautiful. While plunging your face in zero-degree temperature may combat puffiness and swelling, it's a little too extreme. A quick splash of ice-cold water or rubbing of ice cubes on swollen areas can do the job.
What to do: Wrap an ice cube in a terry cloth and gently rub on the swollen areas. If the swelling in your eyes doesn't go down, take your cue from another Hollywood icon Audrey Hepburn and slip on a pair of oversized sun glasses.
3. Take it slough. Dry, dull skin can make you look tired and stressed, but exfoliating that layer of tired skin reveals a softer, fresher complexion.
What to do: Squeeze a pea-sized amount of facial scrub on your hand and add lukewarm water to lather it up. Massage this on to your face in small circles, then rinse off. Pro Tip: Choose a scrub with gentle grains to avoid scathing your skin. In lieu of facial scrub, wrap your index and middle fingers with a face towel, apply facial wash to the tips of your wrapped fingers, gently massage your face in circular strokes, then rinse with lukewarm water.

4. Hold off on too much makeup. When we wake up looking tired, some of us make the mistake of covering up our face with loads of makeup in the hopes that we shield the fatigue from plain view. But the more we pile on the color, the more likely we are to emphasize puffiness, lines, or exhaustion. Instead of primping up all facial features in one go, choose just one (I go for either lips or cheeks) and focus your attention on that.
What to do: Chuck powder foundation for now and choose a liquid formula that has light-reflective particles to let your skin glow, then wear a flashy lip color or swipe on a fresh-looking cheek tint to brighten up your face (and hopefully your mood).

5. Open wide! On days when your eyes look extra sleepy, sometimes all it takes is to curl your lashes and wear some mascara.
What to do: Open your lash curler and bring it to the base of your lashes, then gently squeeze. Hold this for about 10 seconds, then gently "walk" the curler up the lash tips with a continuous squeezing and releasing action. Swipe on a layer or two of mascara if you like.
