Best time for the healthy habit

While there may never be a best time to smoke or to eat bad quality trans fats, there is usually a best time to do some other healthy things for maximum benefit. Here are some what, hows and whys.
Best time to sleep?
Early to bed and early to rise is a really good idea. From eastern medicine, there are important energy meridians that are active in restoring your body starting at about 11pm. And in western scientific literature, it is well known that the hormones that help you repair tissue, and burn fat and sugar are more optimal when sleep is adequate. So try to be asleep by 11pm.
Best time to eat?
It depends. If you are already lean then your body is efficient with energy usage and food timing is less important. Three basic meals should be fine. However, if you are overweight, or pre-diabetic, then many small meals with no refined carbohydrates is better.
Best time for training?
If you are doing heavy strength and speed (sprinting) training. Late morning tends to be best. But for lighter weights evenings are a good time also. However the best time is the one that you can do consistently so just get going, and your body will adjust somewhat.
Best time for eating carbohydrates?
If you are overweight with cholesterol, triglyceride and blood sugar problems, the best time is when Singapore fields an NBA team. I.e. never. Except for a small service only after strength training sessions.
If you are leaner and/or very active the best times are after training and also before bed because carbohydrates tend to lead to better sleep quality as they have calming effects on brain chemistry. (This is also the reason we tend to crave carbs when stressed)
Best time for eating supplements?
Most supplements are best eaten with meals because that is when digestion is stimulated for best absorption. The only exception is a stimulating nutrient like caffeine or carnitine. Those tend to be best taken on an empty stomach.
Best time for mental tasks?
Ideally, mental tasks are done in the morning. As the day starts we should be focused, and as the day goes on, we should get more and more relaxed as our bodies and brains get ready for sleep.

ways to make fresh again in five minutes

Next to the phrase "you gained weight," the comment "you look tired" is a line you don't want to hear. But what's a girl to do when you're running on four hours sleep, under the weather, or stressed out?  At least one of these tricks can help perk you up and leave you looking alert, awake, and enthusiastic!
1. Make concealer your best friend. Dark circles around the eyes give an "up all night," tired look. If you're lacking sleep, fake it with concealer. Choose a color that matches your foundation shade (or get something one grade lighter; you can mix the two hues together as an alternative).
What to do: Dot the inner third of your lower eye area with concealer, then use your ring finger or a concealer brush to gently pat (don't pull or tug!) the product on to your skin. Finish off with a very light dusting of loose powder. Pro Tip: Cream or liquid formulas are your best bet because they're ultra blendable, which is very important when camouflaging tired-looking under eye gray rings.

2. Ice for your eyes. Puffy eyes deliver the message "I didn't sleep enough, or I cried all evening." In the classic movie Mommy Dearest, there's a scene where actress Faye Dunaway (who portrays Hollywood icon Joan Crawford) submerges her face in a basin of ice water—all part of her morning beauty routine to keep her looking young and beautiful. While plunging your face in zero-degree temperature may combat puffiness and swelling, it's a little too extreme. A quick splash of ice-cold water or rubbing of ice cubes on swollen areas can do the job.
What to do: Wrap an ice cube in a terry cloth and gently rub on the swollen areas. If the swelling in your eyes doesn't go down, take your cue from another Hollywood icon Audrey Hepburn and slip on a pair of oversized sun glasses.
3. Take it slough. Dry, dull skin can make you look tired and stressed, but exfoliating that layer of tired skin reveals a softer, fresher complexion.
What to do: Squeeze a pea-sized amount of facial scrub on your hand and add lukewarm water to lather it up. Massage this on to your face in small circles, then rinse off. Pro Tip: Choose a scrub with gentle grains to avoid scathing your skin. In lieu of facial scrub, wrap your index and middle fingers with a face towel, apply facial wash to the tips of your wrapped fingers, gently massage your face in circular strokes, then rinse with lukewarm water.

4. Hold off on too much makeup. When we wake up looking tired, some of us make the mistake of covering up our face with loads of makeup in the hopes that we shield the fatigue from plain view. But the more we pile on the color, the more likely we are to emphasize puffiness, lines, or exhaustion. Instead of primping up all facial features in one go, choose just one (I go for either lips or cheeks) and focus your attention on that.
What to do: Chuck powder foundation for now and choose a liquid formula that has light-reflective particles to let your skin glow, then wear a flashy lip color or swipe on a fresh-looking cheek tint to brighten up your face (and hopefully your mood).

5. Open wide! On days when your eyes look extra sleepy, sometimes all it takes is to curl your lashes and wear some mascara.
What to do: Open your lash curler and bring it to the base of your lashes, then gently squeeze. Hold this for about 10 seconds, then gently "walk" the curler up the lash tips with a continuous squeezing and releasing action. Swipe on a layer or two of mascara if you like.

Other uses of Cola

DIFFERENT USES FOR COLA

The main use for Cola is as a beverage, but there are other things it can be used for. Learning the other uses for Cola can save you money on purchasing several different products. For example, Cola can remove stains and rust on metal. That's now two products you don't have to buy.

*Removing Rust and Hard Water

Cola can remove rust from nails and from the bumper of your car. To remove rust on a small object, fill a plastic cup with Cola. Then add the rusted metal object. Leave it overnight and then wipe the rust off with an old rag. To remove rust from larger metal you will need a sheet of aluminum foil. Roll the aluminum foil up in to a ball and dip in the Cola so that it is covered on all sides with the liquid. Rub it in a circle over the rust. You may need to apply the Coke a few times and then rub, but it will work.It is also used in removing hard water from your bathroom tiles and toilet bowls.

*Stain Removal
Cola contains acid that can remove grease and blood stains from fabric. Fill your washing machine and add your normal amount
of laundry detergent. Then add one can of Cola. Place a load of laundry in the washing machine including the items with the
stains. When the wash cycle is over, your clothing will be stain free.

*As Medicine
Cola is often used to treat upset stomachs. You must first let the Cola sit out and become flat. If you are feeling nauseous you will want to sip the flat Cola every ten minutes or so until your stomach begins to feel better. If you have an upset stomach due to diarrhea, you can drink the Cola at a faster rate. Your stomach will be feeling better in no time.

*Removing Pests
If you have a problem with slugs or snails you can use Cola as both bait and poison. Pour the Cola in a small dish and watch
the sugar attract the slugs and snails. Once the pests get on the dish the acid will destroy them. Cola also works to remove
bugs from a car windshield. Just pour the Cola over the bugs on the windshield and wait 10 seconds. Use your windshield wipers and the bugs will easily come off.

*For Cooking
You can use Cola as a marinade to make meats more tender. Pour a can of Cola in a mixing bowl and then add a dry packet of
Italian dressing mix. Stir the two together and place your meat in the bowl. Make sure the meat is covered on both sides by the mixture. Cover with plastic wrap and set in the refrigerator for 2-4 hours before cooking. Your meat will be nice and tender. :)

Tips for beach vacation essentials

For those living in Asia, beach vacations are very popular, thanks to easy access to a wide variety of close-by destinations, cheap airfares and hotels. Places like Phuket, Bali, Boracay, Nha Trang, Langkawi and Bintan are hotspots for Asian-based travellers who plan impromptu weekend getaways as often as once a month! As most budget airlines only allow one carry-on luggage for free, many wise weekend beach bums have learnt how to travel super light. Those who don't need that many creature comforts can manage well for three to four days on nothing more than a lightweight canvas backpack. But no matter how lightly you pack, here are ten beach vacation essentials that you simply cannot do without.
Extra Swimsuit
Bringing your swimsuit may sound like common sense, but do you really need to bring an extra set? You'll be in your bikini or trunks a lot on a beach vacation, so unless you want to wear something that is damp and cold the next morning, it's a good idea to bring at least two swimsuits so you always have a dry and comfortable one when the other is wet.
Sarong
Beach fashion should be cool, lightweight, and easy to remove and put on are, and nothing is as quick to take on and off than a sarong. Sarong's are very versatile. They can double up as a beach blanket, or a towel, and when you drop by the beach resort's outdoor café for lunch, it will keep you appropriately covered. Most lightweight sarongs also dry quickly, so you won't have to worry about getting them wet.
Sunscreen
You've heard about the dangers of UV rays and how the sun damages your skin. It's all true! So prevent freckles, blemishes, premature wrinkling and skin cancer by slathering your face, neck and whole body with an SPF 40 sun block. Reapply the block every 30 minutes. You can't afford to leave this item at home!
Lip Balm
Too much sun and salt water will leave your lips feeling and looking dry. Keep them moisturized with an SPF lip balm.
Leave-in Hair Conditioner
As with your skin and lips, the sun has a damaging and dehydrating effect on your hair too and can strip it of its natural oils and leave it looking bleached. When heading out into the sunshine, give your hair extra protection by using a leave-in conditioner.
Waterproof Flip Flops
For footwear, your best bet are waterproof flip flops. These keep your feet dry, cool and well ventilated. Leave your leather pumps or suede sneakers at home. You won't want to suffer that unpleasant damp shoe smell when you retire to your hotel room! If you're planning on doing some hiking or sand dune exploring, Crocs and waterproof sport sandals with straps that support the heel are better than regular lace-up track shoes.
A Hat
When all the clouds disappear and the sun is shinning in full force, your head and face are where you'll feel the most heat. To prevent heatstroke and a head that feels like it's baking, bring a nice big-rimmed hat. You can also plop it over your face for extra shade. Fishing hats or panama hats are great choices for men, while wide-brimmed floppy hats give ladies a glamourous edge.
Sunglasses
If you don't want to squint while sun tanning, bring along a pair of sunglasses. The kind that filters our UV rays is best.
Beach Towel
If you're staying at a quality resort hotel, you might not need these. But if you are roughing it out at a local village beachside hut or something more rudimentary, then it's a good idea to bring your own beach towel.
Beach Blanket
When you hit the beach, you'll probably want to stake out your own slice of real estate. That's just one reason you'll need a beach blanket. Beach blankets also keep sand off your body, serve as a picnic "table" for your snacks and water, and doubles up as a sun 'bed' where you can tan.
A Book or Magazine
While working on your tan, you'll need some form of entertainment, so bring along a good paperback novel or your favourite magazine to read while you soak up the rays.
Aloe Vera Moisturizer
While applying sunscreen diligently should prevent sunburn, you'll want to be prepared just in case you accidentally doze off and wake up lobster red. Aloe vera is the best remedy for soothing sun burnt skin and helping it to heal quicker, so be sure to bring a tube along with you.
If you're only bringing a carry-on bag, make sure that your sunscreen, leave-in conditioner and aloe vera gel is packed in containers of no more than three ounces.

Ways to remember when buying a second hand car

Before you rush out to get a used car, there are a few things you need to consider. We steer you through some of them.

1. Am I really getting a good deal even if the price is cheaper for a secondhand car? Don't just look at the price tag of the vehicle. Do a check on the registered COE of the vehicle. Then compare this with the COE of a brand new car of the same make and model. Calculating the difference between the two will give you a better gauge of the actual “value” of the car.

2. The registered COE of the secondhand car shouldn't affect my decision, isn't that all in the past? Don't forget the COE value has a bearing on the scrap value of your car. You will receive a much higher rebate when you scrap a new car compared to what you get from scrapping a secondhand car. So you need to decide if you intend to keep your car for the full 10 years, or if you are just looking at something for the near term.

3. How old is the car and what would I need to pay for maintenance? According to consumer reports.org, “in the first two or three years of a car's life, it has fewer problems and is typically covered by a comprehensive warranty. A used car, on the other hand, is either close to coming off warranty or already off it.” As a buyer, you need to brace yourself for the eventuality that the car will have more problems as time goes on, and these will cost more as the years go. These costs will come out of your own pocket.

4. What if I might want to sell the car in a few years’ time? Depreciation is part and parcel of buying a car, especially in Singapore. Models typically lose about 47 per cent of their value in the first three years, compared with 18 per cent over the next three. Before buying a secondhand car, you need to research on its resale value, especially if you are not buying for the long haul.

5. This is not as risky as the property market, so what if I want to “buy high and sell high”? This is true, but an investment is still an investment and the same rules apply. One should not risk more than one is willing or able to lose. Don't forget that car prices, in particular COE prices, are closely tied in with inflation, consumer prices and the overall GDP of Singapore. Some financial knowledge and basic understanding of the stock market, global trends and potential factors that could affect prices are essential for those who see their car more as an investment than merely a means of transportation.
